Urban Yogis UK (UYUK) has launched its first-ever Yoga Teacher Training and Mentorship programme, beginning in January 2024. Accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals, this teacher training programme will empower teachers to share yoga practices with young people from marginalised communities through incorporating specialist elements of youth work, community work and yoga.
Designed for practitioners with first-hand experience of how yoga can positively impact our lives, this 300-hour programme will develop a new cohort of Yoga teachers who will use yoga to break down barriers within communities and improve young people’s mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Those interested will be passionate about making yoga accessible to all, with accessibility and community as the core values at the heart of the programme.
Commenting on the programme’s launch, Helen McCabe, UYUK Teacher and lead on this programme, said: “I am delighted that we can finally roll out this programme and mentorship after many months of hard work. UYUK is committed to making yoga more accessible, especially to young people in our communities, and this programme is an important part of expanding that work.”
Ben Eckett, Founder & Director of UYUK, added: “This programme is a huge step forward for UYUK, and we are honoured to work with Yoga Alliance Professionals and have this programme accredited by them. I am looking forward to seeing UYUK grow as the programme will enable us to touch the lives of many through the power of yoga.”
There are currently 12 spaces available, with a minimum of one fully sponsored space. Applicants must have had an established regular personal yoga practice for at least two years.
